Job Summary
Conceras is seeking highly skilled Lead Fiber Technicians to support the deployment, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic cabling systems at U.S. diplomatic facilities worldwide. This role requires technical leadership in the field, overseeing installation teams and ensuring work is completed to the highest standards in secure, mission-critical environments.
Assignments typically range from 2 to 6 weeks, with opportunities for consecutive deployments based on performance and mission requirements.
Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Proven Lead Fiber Installation experience,
OR - Prior Department of State fiber project experience,
OR - Active BICSI Certification (Installer or higher)
An active Top Secret clearance (or Secret with TS eligibility) and a valid U.S. passport are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute installation, termination, splicing, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems
- Supervise and guide field technicians to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to project standards
- Perform fusion splicing using Sumitomo equipment with splice loss targets below 0.3 dB
- Conduct OTDR, OLTS, and VFL testing for system certification and troubleshooting
- Ensure proper handling, inspection, and cleaning of fiber connectors (LC, SC, ST, MPO)
- Identify and work with various fiber types (OM2, OM3, OS2) and cable ratings (OFNP/OFNR)
- Oversee installation of pathways, conduits, fiber trays, racks, cabinets, patch panels, and WAOs
- Ensure compliance with TIA/EIA 568, 455, and BICSI standards
- Manage cable routing, maintaining bend radius, separation from EMI/power, and proper support
- Implement telecom grounding and bonding systems (TGB, TMGB, RGB)
- Enforce safety protocols, including confined space entry procedures
- Operate effectively in high-security U.S. Government environments with minimal supervision
- Serve as the primary on-site technical lead and point of contact for fiber-related activities
Requirements
- Active Top Secret Clearance (or Secret with eligibility for TS upgrade)
- Valid U.S. Passport and ability to travel OCONUS
- Must meet at least one of the following:
- Demonstrated lead-level fiber installation experience,
- Prior Department of State fiber infrastructure experience,
- BICSI Certification (Installer or higher)
- Minimum 5+ years of fiber installation, splicing, and testing experience
- Strong expertise in fiber optic systems, structured cabling, and telecom grounding
- Proven ability to lead teams in demanding, mission-critical environments
Preferred Qualifications
- RCDD Certification (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)
- Experience supporting U.S. Government or other high-security infrastructure projects
- Prior OCONUS deployment experience
